Primarily I read adult romance novels (if you can tell by my blog title, I like the sexy stuff), but every once in a while I find an interesting YA book series.
Okay, confession time. I read the Twilight series. Actually, no, I devoured the Twilight series. *Blush* I also liked Kelly Armstrongs Reckoning Series. And Maggie Steivewater (or however the hell you spell her last name) Shiver series (didn't actually make it to book 3, but enjoyed the first two).
I recently read a YA fantasy book by a new author, Charlotte Abel, called Enchantment. Lately I've been branching more into erotica, not the other way, but this book really captured me. It was a unique spin on magic and mages. The love story leapt off the pages and into my heart. Likeable characters (and a couple unlikeable ones that were equally as entertaining) and an exciting story.
Anyway, my point in this isn't a book review. I've been so caught up in my genre that I forgot how refreshing a story can be with...well...less. Less sex, less intensity, less blood/guts/gore. And every once in a while, I need to balance my repertoire with something just plain sweet.
What about you? Do you read YA? Do you have any recommendations for great YA books?

ReplyDeleteI have read the Twilight series and adored the first and second books. There are some wonderful YA books out there and I'm so happy to buy them for my daughter—and me too :)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with Derek from Kelly Armstrong's series! At the moment on http://www.darkestpowers.com/ Kelly is posted a free story from POV and I am falling in love again!
ReplyDeleteI really like Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires. Its YA with paranormal and AMAZING characters. Shane is the main character's love interest and is a great YA person to follow
I enjoyed Wings by Aprilynne Pike and Starfire Angels by Melanie Nilles.
